In plain simple English – bankers cannot be prosecuted for breach of trust, because it owes no fiduciary duty to the depositor / customer, as he is deemed to be using his own money to speculate etc. There is absolutely no criminal liability.

The trillion dollar question is, Why has no one in the Justice Department or other government agencies mentioned this legal principle?

The reason why no one dare speak this legal truth is because there would be a run on the banks when all the Joe Six-Packs wise up to the fact that their deposits with the bankers CONSTITUTE IN LAW A LOAN TO THE BANK and the bank can do whatever it likes even to indulge in hazardous speculation such as gambling in the global derivative casino.

Time lapse in progress. At it again. I wish that this is a sliding window because it completely blocks the possibility for me to stick the camera out to a place which affords for interesting shots. :( #s (at SML Universe Limited)

Working on a time-lapse cloudscape—the wait is mostly in exporting these 1,300 RAWs to JPGs, and last time I did this it took hours, hopefully this time it would be faster… unlikely—no RAID yet. Still researching, so it is mainly a matter of how fast a USB3 drive can write.

Unlike the purple one which was shot from the horizon [1], this one was shot from the 27th floor near my bedroom window.

For this one I left the white balance at the “natural” settings, so you can see that normally the sky is just a very reddish glow . I also had a 15-minute shot for this, and for that capture you can see the clouds more clearly. But for pure illustration of the mood, you can’t beat the sky on this capture.

There is this odd streak in the middle of the frame, which I think might be a boat, but I was not looking at this capture the whole time I was photographing this so I cannot be sure.

This might eventually be reprocessed as black and white. As you can see there is really no “correct” way of setting the white balance on these night long exposure shots, which might be precisely the reason that most photographers just process them as black and white.

“仲夏夜深流金夢” / 香港吐露港夜之寧 Hong Kong Tolo Harbour Night Serenity (903-sec LE) / SML.20130520.6D.06967 http://sml8.it/10Hnhrn After some satisfying results with long exposures recently, I tried my hands on some truly long exposure — 15 minutes (or 903 seconds to be exact).

I have previously shot this floating anchor (buoy) before, with the 7D + 70-200 f/4 + 1.4x at 15 seconds [1]. This one though is shot with the 6D + 100-400 at 15 minutes, and it is interesting to compare the difference.

At 15 minutes, the water surface is completely smoothed and it truly looks like liquid gold. If you look at the 15-second shot, on the other hand, you will observe that the water is still somewhat “rough” by comparison. There is also a nice “dimple” near the anchor which is very sweet. Also unexpected is the refracted shine to the right of the buoy—which makes the light even more precious.
